Moving software from computer to laptop...

I have a MacBookPro which includes bootcamp, allowing one to use Windows software. I have an older version of Photoshop which I would like to load on my Mac. Anyone else tried transferring Windows software from computer to laptop? (I moved and cannot locate the program disks.)

It's easy enough to copy the application files and your files over, but the problem is the Windows registry and other places that there may be small files installed. Offhand, you could make a full backup of the Win. machine, restore that to the bootcamp partition on the Mac, then uninstall what you don't want.

You could try is contact Adobe and see if they'd send you a copy of the CD or a link to download. You'd need the CD key to install - hopefully you have it written down or can pull it from the "About Photoshop" menu selection.

Good luck.

If you didn't write down, or have lost your magic numbers for most installations, try LicenseCrawler. It saved my butt more than once when working on PCs for various clients.

If you registered with Adobe when you first loaded into the PC, they have your code. You can all them and they have always been helpful for me. Then you can download the trial version into the laptop, and with the code make it a full version. Adobe does allow their main programs to be on one PC and one laptop if not used simultaneously.

I always use Belarc advisor to keep track of these things. It will show all the programs you have on your computer but will also show you the product keys.

I just thought of another item: I believe Photoshop can be loaded on a Mac laptop and a Windows desktop (or vice versa) with just one license. That would save running it under Bootcamp if so. Still need to get the license key, though.
