We have any watch guys here?

I've been into watches for a while, both "high end" and more consumer grade stuff. On the higher dollar, I've owned Breitling, Rolex, Ball, Oris, Tissot and Omega. Consumer-grade stuff includes Citizen, Seiko, Invicta, and Zeno. I've also just added a Deep Blue which should be here Wednesday or Thursday.

Anyone else into watches? Let's see what ya' got!

Ya I've got four Mickey Mouse watchers I bought from Penny's on close out for $13 each. The jeweler told me when he changed the battery they were actually Seiko's. I've had more complements on them from kids, adults and especially hard core bikers then I ever thought would happen. I bought four because I thought for the price they wouldn't last long. One of these days I'll have to break out the second one because the gold color has warn off the first one.

Keep one of them in pristine, unworn condition. It's crazy what stuff like that will pull in eBay...

Yes, I like watches. I started collecting watches in 1988. Not the high-end, although I have owned several Tudor watches over the years, mostly the consumer grade watches older than 1965. At one time I have 350 different watches most in their original boxes. When eBay came to prominence I started selling off pieces of my collection. This lasted for about six or seven years until the recession hit the market. Right now I have limited my collection to Hamilton watches, unique Bulova models, some Elgin models and railroad grade pocket watches. I still have about 30 watches. I am especially found of the Direct Read models and Mystery Dial models.

Hi Steve, It sounds like you have GAS for watches. I share the same passion, my main watch is Rolex Submariner with green bezel. My other stuff is not high end, but I recently purchased two Jorg Gray watches at an auction, my favorite is the JG 6500 NC with brown band. My others are older watches. I have a Hamilton electric my father bought for me when I graduated HS in 1959. I love it be it is not reliable. Will stop for no reason and cannot find anyone to repair. Also have a Gruen from high school days, a nice square faced Hamilton my father owned, still keeps perfect time. I can't remember the model, I am on vacation, when I return home will post a picture which is on my desk top computer. Also have a TAG which I wore for years before I bought the Rolex. Also have a couple Seikos, plus some old pocket watches. My favorite is Eureka, 14K gold case, size 6, belonged to great aunt, I think it is from 1880's, but not sure.

Cool.

I've got 13 wrist watches and two pocket watches. The pocket watches are family heirlooms, one of which dates back to the 1880's. Both are gold, and never leave the safe deposit box!

I've been wanting to replace my Omega PO 45 but, at just over three grand used, it's gonna' have to wait.

I like a hefty watch, though, so I picked up one of these:

I've been looking at these for a while. I'm a fan of dive watches (how many people with dive watches actually dive?), and I love the orange accents on the white dial. It's a 46mm, so it's chunky (to put it in perspective, I believe the Submariner is 40mm). With 2-day shipping it was only $414.00.

It should be here tomorrow...

The Deep Blue watch looks sharp, may have to look for one. My old gold pocket watch is also in the safe deposit box and never leaves. My wife wants to wear to wear it as a pendent.

No not me. I'm one of those guys/gals that can't wear any kind of jewelry. I do have a thing for clocks and flash lights. I wish I could wear jewelry. I always were a timex to funerals and such. It makes for a nice hobby.
I do collect guns though.

I've got one of these. Not because I'm into watches, but as a sort of protest against all my friends having to get their phones out when they want to know what the time is.

And it was a bloody expesive protest.

My favorite wrist watch is a Casio connected to the Atomic Clock and with a solar battery which has lasted for the eight years that i've had it without failure. It is good for diving although I don't do scuba any more. It appears to be indestructible after many accidental traumas. I know that it does not have the "class" of a Rolex, but I prefer it to the classy and far more expensive ones. Among its other features, it has a compass, barometric pressure reader and time of world capital cities, which I never use. Its most useless features is a thermometer which, while on your wrist, gives a median temperature between your body's and the ambient, so it is something of no interest to me or to any one else. Despite the useless features, it is my favorite watch.

I'm hardly a collector, but I do have a Bulova Accutron Spaceview, 214, the back set model. It needs work. Anyone have any suggestions for reputable shop? Bulova, of course, no longer supports this watch.

I'm pretty sure it would be your Grand Aunt. There is no such thing as a Great Aunt. It would run, >Aunt>Grand Aunt>Great Grand Aunt>Great Great Grand Aunt>Etc >Etc.

Yeah, I have been fascinated by watches since high school, when I actually took a course in watch repair (after that I never had the nerve to do a repair). I currently rotate through a 1890 American Waltham gold pocket watch, a Xenith Chronomaster T in rose gold, an IWC Portugeuser chronograph, and an IWC Mk XVI Spitfire, and for fun, a Tommy Bahama Relax. I have several other watches dating from the 1930's-1950's, most of which run, but I don't wear them. I just started to work on my macrophotography skills in order to get good captures of the entire collection.
