Growl ? To have or to uninstall?

I've just purchased a new iMac computer for my photography work mostly. And now I see a daily pop up in the top right of my screen informing me that there is an update for Growl on my computer.

I've learned that Adobe/Photoshop has installed it there. Do you all have it on your computers? Have you uninstalled it?

It is an end user notification tool, which you can uninstall:

But is the best move to uninstall it? That's why I posted the question here? Maybe it is to our advantage to leave it.

This depends on your usage style. Do you want to be told about the latest updates as they happen, or would you prefer to occasionally update your software on your own schedule? There is no right answer.

If it isn't bogging your system down, it probably won't hurt anything. Why not just disable your notifications and update at your own discretion?

Many MAC applications use GROWL to let you know that events have happened. It can keep a record of past events as well. See the GROWL Preferences either under the menu bar icon. The only downside if that if might have been free with Adobe but you might have to pay upgrade fees in the future.
GROWL is available on the Mac App Store and upgrades are free for programs purchased through the App Store.
I have GROWL running all the time and have not seen it waste system resources.

I have a Mac OS X.9 Maverick and LR & PS do not have the "Growl". Or at least I'm not aware of it.
