Not too shabby! Unfortunately, no matter how perfect the capture, a fly is still a former maggot.

Capture info? camera, lens, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, lighting.

This was with my old Pentax M100 F4 Macro with 65mm of tubes at F11 on a K-5 using X mode ISO 200 with AF-200FG flash slightly cropped just to get rid of some of the wasted space.

Nice detail. I was out looking for creepy, crawly things, but it's too cold, even for "maggots in training"....

Alabama has several large Orb Weaver spiders which mature in the Fall. Each September, the L.A. County Natural History Museum imports dozens of spiders from southern swamps:

I envy your access to such environs.

Do you get "special access"? Just curious what the limitations are at the LA natural history museum. Is this the same location as the La Brea Tar Pits? I've been there many times. Used to live in N. Long Beach many years ago...

The Spider Pavilion costs $3 per visit, and I visit several times each Fall. It is located next to the Colosseum, downtown L.A.
