This little fellow was climbing the side of my screened room. Can't have that. I sent him up the tree and he turned to accuse me of interfering with his exploration. All the while, his mother was standing beside me, purring, as she encouraged him to behave himself. I have fed this clan for several generations but they are wild; I have never touched them. I feed them only enough to supplement their diet so they won't forget how to forge for a living.

Thanks, Old Hippy, #3 is my favorite, too. I am using it as a screen saver. It seems that every year one of the kits becomes a favorite. But as soon as they are grown, I can no longer tell them apart.

Mike and Linda, when Grandma saw someone overeating, she often said they must have a "tape-worm." I have used that expression many times when talking to these little bandits. They are champion free-loaders and they think my only mission in life is to be sure they get enough to eat. Still, they must retain the ability to forage for themselves. I do not ask neighbors to feed them when I travel!

You seem to have the balance thing worked out pretty well. Just because they want to eat all the time doesn't mean they should. You have them dialed in and the cute little bugger(s) will just have to put up with the occasional photo-op. Seems like a fair trade to me.

Very nice photos. They are great fun until they decide they want to live inside the house with you....

   Great shots! Glad you only supplement feeding and don't touch. They are wild and should stay that way. Congrats. Thanks for showing.

Steve and Rich, thanks for stopping by. Glad you enjoyed seeing one of my newest neighbors. I live on a lake shore next door to a wildlife reservation so I see a lot of critters.

Gene, I do feed them just a little more during this time of year when the females are nursing kits. It is no wonder the little ones behave most of the time. A swat on the nose from a mama coon gets a wayward kit to behave without further ado.

While in Va. a few years ago I saw for the first time raccoon swimming. I have new they were so at home in the water.

Ebbotte, That shot caught him in action. I guess their mischief is one of their endearing qualities. Thanks for your comment.
