Nice job. I need to get away from the Austin city lights and give this a try myself. What were your settings?

Very nice shot! Great job!

Better watch out, it gets addictive. I now find myself looking everywhere for possible dark skies, and watching the weather very close

Another tip to try out, use different white balance settings. Tungston will give you a bluer image.

I never cease to marvel about what the camera sees that we dont see. The same goes for dark skies. After one has been out away from white light for over 30 mins, the amount of stars that you can see is breathtaking.

I have a Nikon D5200 and just used the kit lens 18-55. Settings were 25 seconds, f4.0 ISO 2500 and 20mm. I have another shot at 6400 and the noise isn't that much different.

I know!!! We are going to Hawaii in a couple of weeks and I already am looking for dark spots on the island to see what I can do there LOL.
