One of my favourite places to visit is "The Kimberleys", aka "The Top End". It is a vast area, rich and diverse in its landscape. In the summer, known as "The wet", it is deluged with rain, cops a few cyclones, and is unbearably hot, but in the winter known as the "dry" it is very pleasant to visit.
Much of the Kimberleys are uninhabited except by 'roos, emus, feral cattle and camels and an "infinite" variety of birds.
Thanks for posting these great and varied shots Snecko. We are heading across the ditch next Saturday and having 5 days in Perth (A first for both of us)Then down to Coolangatta for a week. Really looking forward to it.

I am an avid fan of petroglyphs, so your cave painting image appeals to me greatly. Good on ya Mate!
Hi Adicus,
Hope the weather starts to improve for your 5 day visit!
We would like to cross the ditch ourselves and do a cruise. Hoping to do so next year.
Wendy
Cant guarantee the weather wherever you go Wendy but we are going to see family for the first time so maybe it wont matter too much , anyway its supposed to be going to be 22 degrees next week so fingers crossed.
Great photographs, love your country. I could spend a couple of life times hiking down there. I have a couple of hats from there an Akubra and a BC. We are shipping a 1956 Dodge pickup to a guy down your way for a restoration project, it sure is a long way. Sure enjoy your photo's, keep 'em coming.
Thanks for sharing your trip. appreciate it. good shots!

Just wondering - - I see that you shot the Petroglyph with a Canon S3 IS at f/3.2 and 1/30 sec.
I didn't see any flash info in the EXIF - - just wondering if any flash was needed for the shot ??
Definitely no flash. It would have been under a rock ledge as I'm not a keen caver! 😄
These are wonderful photos, Wendy! I feel like I'm taking a little tour of Australia!
I hope to dig up some more in a little while! Book your ticket! 😃

Yeah - - those ancient painting things instantly turn to dust when exposed to a Xenon Flash.
Never have figured out why the Park Services figure that a camera flash will ruin what thousands of years of Sunlight have been unable to damage - - but there you are.
