Camera Bag Strap Suggestions?

I have a camera bag I like but find the strap constantly slips off my shoulder. I know a solution is to have the strap cross my body but I don't find that very comfortable or practical at times. Has anyone come up with a solution that has the strap 'grab' your shoulder a bit better?
I tried using some of the heavy duty velcro with the 'fuzzy' side out in the hopes that it might work. It made no difference whatsoever.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks,
Ron

There are textured (nob's) rubber pad's that slip over the straps and I found them to be quite useful in that regard. I've got a couple spares. I think these are made by Tamrac, but all "bag makers" probably carry some.

Could you get a regular adjustable strap and wrap that under your other armpit and around the camera bag strap on your shoulder? You would need to unclip the second strap before putting the bag down, but it could solve your problem.

I believe "UpStrap" will have what you're looking for -- http://www.upstrap-pro.com/

I have used a UpStrap, it was very good. However, this bag has the strap attached and cannot be removed. So, the UpStrap, while an excellent product, is not going to work for me.

Domke makes something called the postal carriers shoulder pad - here is the link to B&H's page:

I used one on a bag that also had a non-removable strap and it was very good.

Rapper, I take it you are wearing it kind of the same way a woman wears a purse?
Maybe you could wear it only with a special shirt, or a modified shirt.
I remember that some of the military shirts had a little buttoned strap up on top of the shoulder for securing ornamentation of some sort. Anyway, the strap could be past trough the loop and buttoned down, or the button replaced by Velcro.
Just a thought. ;-)

After having used the same original size Domke bag for more than twenty years, I have been forced to replace the insert once and am about ready for my third shoulder pad. The secret to the pad is to install it so the thick side is to the outside, thus leveling the strap, in addition to preventing slippage. It can be used on any (roughly) 1½-2" strap and can be transferred easily. I highly recommend this pad AND any Domke product.

Absolutely! Been using the Domke "postal" pad for a long while. Does the job!

I have the straps from a local company that are wonderful. They are tough and yet safe for the bag and your camera.

"Epaulette." I have a couple of shirts with them, but I can't imagine opening and closing them every time I wanted to move the bag. As you said, Velcro might work.

You might find something useful at OP/TECH. Their camera straps are excellent.

Beat me to it, Jerry. In fact some outdoors wear don have epaulettes to hold straps, for long runs. Op/tech is great gears I first tried one and was amazed at the lack of slip.

I have three Domke 1.5-Inch Web Straps with Swivel 742-1BK. They solved your problem when it was my problem by two rubber-like runners on the inside of the strap. About $20 each at Amazon.
Good Luck!

Well, that's a great idea. Always wondered what those little button straps were for. I'll keep this one in mind myself.
