Windshoppe and I are talking about getting a UHH group together this spring for a meet up and photography trip to the Copper Harbor area. Are you interested. It would probably be Late May early June.
Maybe :)
I was in Copper Harbor last fall.

When our grown sons were little and we lived in Chicago, we made Copper Harbor, vacation camping. I recall sitting, after dark, in the garbage dump, waiting for the bears. My other memory is old eerie grave yards with stones reading, "died ten years old, working in the mines". Have a great time!

One could spend a lifetime photographing in the Keweenaw Peninsula. I recommend this excursion while you're in the UP:

It would be great if you could. Any suggestions would be helpful also.

http://www.picturedrocks.com/I was at picturedrocks a few years back. It is beautiful. Might be a possibility since it is right on the way if you are coming from the south.

That is a beautiful place, also!

For those of you who may not know, Copper Harbor MI is at the very Northern tip of Michigan at the very tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula jutting out into Lake Superior. It is about a 12 hour drive from Detroit.
To drive from Detroit to Copper Harbor is about the same as driving from Detroit to New York City.
I'd love to join this tour, but it's just too far.

Right. It's worth the extra distance from the West, too. I don't know about now, but it used to be interesting to watch the beavers from the point above Lake Of The Clouds. They looked like mice from that height. If it hasn't disintegrated by now, there's probably still a green cap with "FFA" embroidered on it someplace down there. I also wonder if Paul Bunyon's cane pole is still in the tavern in Ontonagon.
This probably isn't the place to relate it, but I once explored a creek with my new JC Penny grey jeans rolled to the knees. Stepped into a drop-off and the ore-rich water stained them red. After washing they came out PINK up to mid-thigh, but I had to wear them to school anyway. Plenty embarrassing. And I was so proud of them before.
Hope you get a good group together, it's a beautiful area for the lover of nature.

I am about 10 hours away, but hear it is worth the drive. Nothing like a good road trip with your camera.

We will have to check that out. It would be nice if you could come and join us and show us where to look. :-D

It would be good to go with a group of fellow enthusiasts, but I have other plans for next spring. :)
Let us know when and where. Have been there in the winter but not in the spring. Hopefully we can make it.
If it's a winter like last year, better plan on June :-)
I'll have to mull this over, and see how my work schedule coincides with it (I travel a lot for work).

Excellent point. Unless we want winter photos. I hear it is beautiful in the winter also. :-D
