Cruising Alaska in the winter?

It was not really winter no it was in the middle of May, but some years they do somehow extend the winter up there. My wife wanted to see snow, I hate to drive in the Sierra so I suggested we take the first cruise ship out of Vancouver to Anchorage and we should be able to see snow from the comfort of the balcony. The balcony did not work out very good as it was so cold that I had to wrap the bed blanket around me to get some pictures but boy did we ever see snow, enough for a life time. The last pics is as we arrived at Whittier, it might have well been Xmas.

Let me know when you put all your Alaska photos together in a photo book. I'll buy it.

Thank you very much, the snow is nice to look at from a distance, but I don't want to get too close to it.

I've shoveled enough of the stuff not to be in any big hurry to see more, but someone it doesn't look quite that beautiful when it's dumped itself on my driveway.

Sure looks good on the mountains, tho. A definite improvement.

And snow or no snow, number four is truly beautiful, Mike. Love that one.

A gorgeous series Mike. They are all beautiful, but #4 with the colorful clouds and their reflections gets my vote for favorite.

Thank you so much Randy, as you know we consider snow a rariety outhere, the only time I saw now on the ground was about 30 years ago , I drove across the golden Gate Bridge at daybreak and there was about 3" of snow on the cables. Lucky me I thought the shot of a lifetime as I had a Leica M2 with a 35 Summicron in the glove compartment, the perfect gear, I drove to the view point, guess what the film was full and no spare. Never ever will I forget that.

This is the best way to see snow; in someone else's photos, especially photos as good as these. Thanks for sharing these beauties.

Yep, those are gorgeous.
We were there in June this year.
Whittier, AK. Very interesting place.
Especially the housing to school tunnel. No snow days for those kids.

I lived 7 years in Wyoming. I swear, I have never been cold since I moved back to California.
And the only thing I shovel now is manure. ;)
(On the garden, ON THE GARDEN!)
