I bought Adobe photoshop elements 12 from B&H and installed it today. When I enter the license number that came on box which six sets of four numbers it comes back that this is not a valid numbers for elements 12. I have been unable to find a phone number or forum to contact customer service. I had Elements 8 but upgrade pc a couple of years ago and it would work on my upgrade.
I am not sure that I will be happy with it as seems to be geared more toward video and cell phones, which I am not interested in any way. I would just to have good program like the older version. I am tempted to send it back.
I would like some one that has had the some problem with setup or experience to give me some much appreciated help and or advice. Thanks
It seems that more is some time less.

I had it happen with Lightroom 5 and had to return the package and get another one. It took 3 times to get one the registration number would work with. This was thru Best Buy.

Thanks for the reply. Did you get in contact with customer support from Adobe?

No I went back to Best Buy and got new packages. When you buy at Brick & Mortar stores they activate the registration when they scan at checkout. When you get home and load the program on your computer you then have to go to the adobe web site and register as a user. You then get the product code to enter in the program so it knows to open and operate. The code you have in the box when you buy it is just to let you access Adobe's web site and to show you have a legal copy of the disc. With mine the first two registry numbers didn't work and Best Buy ended up having to give me 2 other discs before one allowed me to get the product code to use lightroom.

You mention it's geared toward video...I purchased and downloaded Photoshop Elements 12 Premiere, which has 2 app's, one for video and one for photo...and they each have different license numbers... Not sure if that's a possibility in your case though...

I'm sorry to hear that. I recently bought Elements 12 via download (Amazon) and during the install process it saved the license number to a word document.
I copy and pasted that to the license screen and away I went.
I was wondering if yours might have done something like that during its install? A saved page of the license code.

Also, mine does not appear to have Photo/Video. :?:
It has an Organizer and a Photo program section in it. Pick one when the main menu opens.
Maybe I haven't discovered the Video yet. But nothing is pointing me to believe there is a video section.
Maybe some are confused by the video tutorials?

Since all I wanted was to play with it, and do some cropping, I picked the Photo side.
My Nikon "View NX2" does a fine job of organizing for me at download.
But it has a lot to explore and play with.

Anyway, I do hope you get yours straightened out and working. I think for what I want, which is minimal post processing, it has a lot of promise.

From adobe:

Does your serial number have 24 digits - no alpha characters - starting with 1057?

Note: Please don't quote your number as this is a public forum

If your number is not like that it may be a redemption code. See if the following helps.

I think you might have the answer. Yes I have the 24 numerical code that starts with 1057. I went to the link that you gave me and I think that will clear up the problem. It says that the number on the box which is where mine is a older copy. I woke up thinking about at three in the morning and got finally got up and checked on the replies and I will work on it in the morning. I do not understand why they do not put more explicit directions with it. I can use the trial version but I want to finish the install now.
Thanks for all the replies and help. I will post my progress later, and again thanks.

Had same issue when I bought PSE 11 last year. Turned out the number I was using located on back of box was not the license number even thought it was marked as such. Had to call Adobe; the correct number was located on the inside box. Check your material and see if there isn't another number on the inside box.
Good luck.

Thanks every one for the replies. This is a superior group for help and solving problems. I am going to try again this evening when no one is around and every thing is quiet and hopefully will be successful. Again thanks to ever one.

I reinstalled Photoshop CS5 on my Mac. It rejected the license number which had worked previously. I used CHAT. Kept trying until I got someone competent who asked me for my license number, whereupon I hit a key and accidentally disconnected. She responded via email with what to do. I did it giving the license and was told it would be several days before resolution (I read it as my being at the bottom of the heap). Today is day 4.
