I am not sure about the D7000, but some cameras only use Mup for sensor cleaning....Others require live view to be on in order to use the shutter....Did you select mup via a menu or by selecting live view?

Go into your menu on D7000. Custom Settings...D11. That sets exposure delay and the mirror will go up automatically when you take a picture.

You are welcome..however, according to the manual the Mup is supposed to work too and I wonder why it didn't?

That's good. Could you let me know what they have to say? I am curious about using that too.
Thanks,
Marsha

i use the m-up feature taking long distance landscape shots while on a tripod and using remote shutter release to get the clearest shots possible. this is used for that special shot that you only get to take once while traveling to one time locations.

James...so you go into the "menu" and turn on exposure delay to put the mirror up each time you take a picture, and then on the mode dial, you are set to remote?

yes thats how i do it, this is only for that special landscape stationary shot but you can take more shots until you reset that function in the menu.
