Like these but what do I do other than crop? Taken with a 500mm mirror w/2x, dx D300 on a tripod.

I really enjoy the first image. I think the composition is perfect for the starkness and simplicity of it and would not crop it. 8-)
I agree, the first one is nice. You need to clean your sky up a bit as I see some spots on it, lighten the image a little, maybe sharpen just a little, and see what it looks like. Foggy mornings are one of my favorite times to shoot. Gives every tree/object a soft silhouette with soft lighting.
I am so glad you took advantage of the fog to get some nice shots. I like the first two better than the last... and I like the second better than the first. I like the land as it extends into the shot... and the two trees are the real star of the photo. I would have liked to seen another shot either with the two trees just entering the picture from the right... or almost all the way over on the left.
