A wonderful, moody feel. As much as I like the reflection, the composition is a little too symmetrical for me. I tried cropping out half of the reflection, plus some of the right side to move the tree off-center (and a bit off the top) - and I find that more pleasing. That change also gave more prominence to the hint of tree with curved shoreline on left, which is an interesting element.
I also tried cloning out the triangle of dock, undecided whether it improves or not :)
Counselor1938, this is really a very lovely image. I like how the trees in the background just barely show up through the fog. The tree that is the center of interest in this photo should be the only bold thing in the background. I think the image would be much better if you cloned out the dark land in the foreground and the left side. They distract from your subject and ruin the lonely tree mood.
Thanks for your observations. For some reason the right side of the photo was cropped when it uploaded. (I will try to upload it again with this message.) The small piece at the bottom was hidden when it was matted and framed -- I agree with your comment.

This appears to be a completely different image -the trees on the left and the shoreline there are not the same, and there isn't that jagged triangular edge - curious!
I
much prefer this one to the shot you entered to the photo challenge. The off-centered subject, pleasing foggy shoreline - all very nice.
Sorry, the second photo was not put up for critique, just to make a point.
I really like the mystical quality of your photograph. The reflection and the slight notice of the background trees complete the image, I think. I'd take out the pier on the left and the touch of land at the bottom to improve the photo.
Thanks for the constructive comments. i actually uploaded the wrong picture. The correct one was horizontal and well cropped, rule of thirds, etc.. (and a 16x20 now hangs in the office of the country club's GM).

Maybe he'd like this one, too.
Thanks. The club has several of my works and recently commissioned me to provide 'wall art' for the proshop in their other country club.
