Rodger great topic and wonderfull photos love the texture of the first one. To the pastor who just posted photograph all church activities youth plays, baptisims, beauty in nature that shows the glory of Gods handiwork. send me a privaate message i'll give you more ideas. To whover is reading these posts and is tempted to leave a snarky post.DON'T just because you don't feel the love of God doesn't mean it doesn't exsist. If you truly want to know if God exsists ask HIM with an open mind. He will show you. REad Acts 2:38

proof it exsists
proof it exsists...

When Pope John Paul ll was shot with a bullet rather than a camera. He stated that the gunman pulled the trigger (of his own free will) and the bullet was guided providentially.

kgschoening, I wasn't going to join in this thread for a number of reasons but I wanted to compliment you on your desire and prayer. It should be all of all spiritual people. I think that the Clergy often reiterate the old religious dogma without really daring to challenge the "popular".

I think all things are of God. I believe God gave me "Free Will" and the responsibility to use it as he wished; even in my photography. The subject matter is easy; He gave that to us in everything we see. Photographing it responsibly is the challenge. (But that sort of applies to everything in like, huh?)

Pray-meditate and keep a camera with you. Then, trust what you see is what your are supposed to be photographing. If you've been given the gift of a good eye and a passion for pictures, it is God whispering to you--TAKE SOME PHOTOGRAPHS--and quit all the thinking. After all--All gifts come from God. Unless you're shooting porn for profit or something you know is just off the cgarty, what's the problem?

I have the same feeling about God's hand in an image I am about to take. Only in my case He likes to tease me. At times I will get all set up to take the shot, and Gods sends along a cloud. I can't help but smile and snicker at Him. OK, well take it with out the sun.
Again, I really appreciate this discussion. I am a pastor---with a passion for God, and for photography. A challenge I'm dealing with is to keep those passions in the right priority! A constant prayer of mine is to use photography and my passion for it for God's purpose. Any thoughts on this would be most appreciated!
Pastor, I have the same dream...to glorify and magnify Him in everything I do. I get into trouble when I try to express my passion for the Lord and what He's done for me verbally...but in a photograph - I try to get out of the way and let God's creation speak for itself. People in general get so "busy" - they fail to stop and realize that God paints His love for us across the heavens and the earth. My motivation is the hold up a "post card from God" that brings attention to His enduring love for us each and every day. What's conveyed is simple - "I was thinking of you and here's a little reminder -a simple glimpse of what I've gone to prepare for you". Everyone keep a look out for those "God Sightings" - trust me when I say...you will NOT be disappointed!

Good thoughts to a great observation by Roger. The reason I photograph animals to show God's creation.

I would like to suggest a book for you guys to read- it is titled " The soul tells a story" it is by a christian woman named Vnita hampton Wright. it is about being a creative person or a "creative" as she calls it - it is about being a christian and being creative - wheather it be in photography or writing or baking pies for church. you should read it - it changed my life in such a way i cant really explain- it will answer a lot of questions about your art and what is expected of you as a profession and a christian-

Thanks for your encouragement, Roger. However, I think of Paul's statement in 1 Corinthians 6:12 and 10:23:"'Everything is permissible for me'--but not everything is beneficial. 'Everything is permissible for me'--but I will not be mastered by anything." The struggle we all have is insuring that God is our Master and not our desires, interests---or anything else.

But Paul also said, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Sorry for the "sermon," but this seemed like the right place to express these things. May God be glorified in all we do!
