fuji x10

does anyone have a fuji x10 and what do they like or dislike ?
i am a past leica rangefinder film camera user and mostly now using the panasonic lx5 with the lvf most of the time , but the finder leaves too much to be desired . i like a smaller camera that i can carry with me all the time , and the x10 seems as if it would fit in , but i have read many negative reviews about image quality and quirkyness . the price has come down (maybe this doesn't
speak well of the camera ) and seems like a good value . would
appreciate any recommendations or input on the camera .

Hello Mort,
I asked the same question a while back. Tripsy and Shopnascar both seem happy with theirs. If you input Fuji X 10 into "Search" you will get their responses, Also some links worth checking out. Naturally I am still procrastinating! uote=mort]does anyone have a fuji x10 and what do they like or dislike ?

I went down to B& H in New York and looked at everything there was to see. in my mind it came down to the Nikon P7100, the canon G 12, or the Fuji X 10. The soon to be released Canon G1 X looks remarkable but is considerably more money. I ended up getting the Fuji X 10 and it is being delivered today. I liked it because it has the manual zoom, slightly larger sensor, built-in HDR and panorama modes, viewfinder, sharp lens and Just an all-around good feel. Most importantly I have had canon DSLRs, from the 5D MII, 7D, 60 D, all of which were great with L lenses. But I went back and checked what I considered to be my best photos and realized that I could've shot any of those photos with the fuji x 10. The bottom line is my cameras were better than my photographic ability. I am going to get rid of my Canon equipment and keep the Fuji with me almost at all times. I think the quality of the photos I take will end up improving considerably.

Hi Mort!
I received your message yesterday. I appologize for not being able to respond right away (slammed with work is a happy pain in the rear).
I've read a bunch of reviews since purchasing my x10 which speak highly of the camera. I do have a colleague who had a focusing issue with his, and within a couple of days he had a brand new x10 no questions asked.
I'm assuming it is just like buying a new lens. I shoot til I love the lens, then when I purchase it, I try a handful of copies until I feel completely satisfied with the mechanics and the glass (my Sigma 70-200 is a prime example. Awesome copy, but it was my 7th choice.
As for my x10, it has turned into a sordid love affair that is creating relationship issues with my other (pricier) bodies. I love this camera, and in the winter months it is making a great substitution for my walk around until the warmth returns.
It is lightning fast, awesome color, great focus both manual and automatic, plus the raw+jpg combo allows for some very satisfying work. This camera in its own way has given me a bit of a boost in the creative direction, and with the seemingly never ending set of features (and built in viewfinder) I have a whole new playground to roam around.
As of now, in my (exceedingly small) amount of free time, I have begun scripting and boarding what are becoming a small set of moments designed to test the x10's HD video features. I'm combining live action shot thru camera with both the x10's video and stills, and compositing the materials with 3D and a physics engine better known as a particle system). I have to be honest and say that so far this beast of a baby boutique is running neck and neck with my big guns in the quality realm. It's a while off, but I'll be adding to the DSLR videography thread hopefully soon, and within that I'll try to post some workflow and "behind the scenes" shots for the new piece that I'm building along with a link to the final short.
So for me, the x10 is quickly proving to be the only choice in that price range. I know this may have been a bit wordy, but going from a maybe ill get it to each of my partners having one is a great compliment to Fuji. I don't regret it one bit, and have yet to see any issues that are not user created with my particular copy!
Hope that helps!
Your friendly neighborhood Tripsy
