Has anyone used Nikon's Capture NX2 and PS Elements 9-10?
Any feedback on either software would be appreciated.

NX2 seems to be best for handling RAW files initially but many find it lacking for overall enhancement. Elements 10 seems to be good for most complicated retouch and masking operations.

I have View NX2 and Elements 10. I have gone to Elements 10 completely.

Elements is really three programs: Organizer, Editor, and Adobe Camera Raw. Each is quite powerful in its own right and they are completely integrated.

I strongly recommend getting Kelby and Klowoski's book on Elements 10 before you start with it. Despite many Internet videos and another book I was frustrated for about 3 months with Elements. I learned more in 3 days with K&K's book than in the previous three months and am having great fun and results with it now.

A side benefit of Elements is that most of what you learn with it applies directly to Photoshop should you later decide to go that way. I don't see a need to do that but just in case you might.

Exactly right. NX2 does have much better color correcting capabilities however, simple, fast and great control, I keep it along with PSE9 just for that reason.

I have both NX2 and elements 10. My suggestion is elements 10 hands down. Also I would highly recommend the Photoshop Elements 10 book by Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski.

I love Nikon Capture nx2 and have been using it for about 2 years. I love the easy way to edit using u- point technology instead of the dreaded photoshop layers . View NX2 will not do anything fancy like adding text and frames etc. It is basic -but awesome basic. If you want your best photo quality and want to handle the color, light ( exposure) , and balance right from your Nef files, then capture NX2 is for you. Wonderful for tweeking your Nikon photos better than elements IMHO . I have used photo shop ( CS) for over 10 years and capture NX2 was such a breath of fresh air. Only complaint is the the healing brush is limited- does a good job but if you need extensive cloning you may need photoshop elements or some other photo editing program. I use Capture NX2 as my choice ( great for reading your Nikon embedded profiles and tweaking.) Can't say enough good about it!

I have elements 9 and NX2. When I want to get serious with my editing I use Elements.

I bought Elements 7 and NX2 at the same time. I started using NX2 more and more as I found it much faster and simpler than Elements. Take everything in RAW and then touch up as needed. Maybe if I have more time will learn Elements in more detail but for 99% of my editing Capture NX2 does great. Waiting for NX3 to comeout after the newer Nikon cameras are introduced. Still getting great pictures from my D90. For panoramas I use Elements, but don't take too many of those.
