Hello, I'm a new member here. My father actually posts on this forum a lot and sends me info all the time so I thought I would just sign up. I have recently been looking at and loving the actions that you can add to PS. BUT, I am extremely frustrated at the moment. Can I not add actions to Elements 2.0?? I have found a few free ones and I thought all I had to do was download them, and then drag them from my downloads folder into the "Filters" or "Effects" folders in Elements. What am I doing wrong??? Thanks!

You are most likely trying to add plug-ins to a program so old that they are no compatible with the format. The current edition of Elements is 10.0. Perhaps its time to upgrade your software.
Oh my! I suppose I should! Thanks!!!
Anytime! My daughter thinks your Avatar is cool.
Thanks! I made it on Yahoo! :)

you definetly need to scrap pse 2 right now. I was using pse2 and photoshop album untill 2 days ago when i was able to acquire a legal copy of pse 9 thanks to someones kind generoisity. the difference between 2 and 9 is unbelivable. it is like going from a model t to a lamborgini!!!! the features, tutorials and ease of use is beyond imagination. I am still learning the organizer and quick fixes before i stat editing.
Thanks! I am actually downloading a free trial of CS5 right now just out of curiosity. And I have a generous friend like that to ;).

going from pse 2 to the latest version of photoshop has a very steep learning curve. learn it in small nibbles instead of trying to gulp down the whole program.
Thank you very much! Greatly appreciated!
I recommend you get Kelby and Klowoski's book on Elements 10 before you start. You'll find many threads here of people frustrated with learning to use Elements. I was one of them for three months. I learned more in 3 days with the K&K book than in the previous 3 months with videos and another book. About the only shortcomming is that I don't think the Help is Helpful at all.
The main reasons for the frustration are that some of the names and methods it uses are not intuitive and the sheer volume of things you can do is huge.
Now I love Elements 10 and am able to do many things with it. It will be another year or two before I feel anything like proficient with it but learning every day.

At least she had a #2 for a learning curve. I'm getting the Elements 10 free with the computer I bought for Christmas. I have to start from scratch. LOL I did get Brian Peterson's book, Learning Element 10.
One of the best books out there! I recommend it to all of my students.
You might also want to check your local Adult Education departments for classes. Make sure they are "hands-on" for the best learning experience. I'm teaching 2 towns in CT this semester -- I filled one so quick that they added a 2nd class as soon as the first is completed! Mine run 6 weeks, 2 hrs. a class, so we can cover a lot of ground.

Have you tried Kelby and Klowoski's book?
I have another book by Jeff Calrson that I would have thought is great also till I got theirs. There is still a place fo Carlson's for detail by function but K&K get you doing useful things immediately step by step.
I haven't tried Peterson's.

Does elements 10 have HDR capabilities? I have elements seven and cannot find it in there. Bruce M.
