Pierce Arrow Corp. built an in-line 12 cylinder engine in the late Thirties... put it in their Silver Cloud, I think. Allison made a twelve too. Amazing engineering.

Yes, but what was the workhorse at the beginning and through most of the war. Of course it was the Curtiss P-40. :-) I love the P-40, the P-51, the P-38 and the B-17. All great airships. I love a lot of the foreign fighters too though. Like the Hawker Hurricane, the Spitfire, etc. Cheers.

Unlikjely to be the Griffon, more likely the Merlin but I could be wrong
