There is no way to put a out of focus image into focus without spending a lot of time and money. Lytro camera comes to mind, not sure if they are out yet, but claim to off the ability to change focus in PP.

I would't say that. For a mear $400 If you told me what the animal is, I would search for a animal in the public domain, or buy a photo that had this animal shot from this angle and PS it over the original. Though I would need to negotiate that use with the artist or the original photo. Time & Money is all it would take.

Grizzly mom and progeniture taken in sheep panic with an i-phone or something like it...

As Searcher did the only 'edit' that can be done is to make it look like a 'painting made by a mad hat'.

I am not even sure why you even posted this and ask if it is salvageable.

The shot was taken with a P500 camera at 1/100sec, F5.7, ISO 220, and 810mm equivalent, and at 11:36pm so the light had to be pretty low. No way to take that shot at those settings, especially hand held. Your friend really needs some photography lessons and to learn the capabilities of that camera. When properly handled it gives wonderful results. This one, sadly to say, is fatal and beyond help.

Beat me to it, was just looking at the camera data. Kind of surprised at 11:36PM he got down to 220 ISO. But you never know how accurate camera clocks are.

In Alaska its still pretty light at midnight in August. I am guessing that was where this brown bear was shot.

Very true, I was just up the Inside passage 3 weeks ago. Started getting dark around 10PM. But you make a good point.

You're wrong about that. All the shots of Bigfoot have been in focus. That's just the way he looks. :D
