2nd time around, I imported a photo in LR3 and I was working on it and it turned out to be inbedded, So How do I change this, I didn't do anything new. I don't want it to be inbedded.

Do you mean you want it out of Lightroom? If so, simply click on the picture and then, while holding the ALT key down, hit the backspace key.

That command corresponds to the Photo, Remove Photo From Catalog command on the menus.

I think we need a bit more information. In Lightroom, the photos are stored on your computer and can be accessed by any program that knows where they are (generally My Photos on a PC). All that Lightroom does is keep track of that location in a database. If you edit the photo, Lightroom makes changes to a file that is related to the original photo without changing the original photo.

There is another kind of imbedding which is where the photo is converted to DNG as it is loaded into the file system, and a copy of the RAW data is imbedded into the DNG file. The DNG version of the photo is not readable by all programs and the RAW data cannot be extracted by all programs. Tha Adobe programs can always get to the RAW inside a DNG (since DNG is an Adobe format). But programs like Picassa, Windows Photo whatever, and others don't know DNG.

So, if you can explain what imbedding you are concerned with we can probably give more details about how to work with the photo or files.

ok, I uploaded some pictures from my camera into abobe PS Elements 5, then from there I brought1pic into LR3 through a new catalog, then when I was in the delvelope mode I went down to camera calibration, under that next to profile it says embedded, there should be a drop down menu there but seeing mine says imbedded I don't have those options to make the change there.

I believe you are editting a picture file which this module (camera calibration) can't work with, most likely a JPG file. I pulled up a selection of photos from an old Kodak camera, a Sony camera, an EOS 20D and an EOS 40D. For the 20D and 40D, there were profiles available if the picture was a RAW capture. For those two cameras with a JPG picture or any of the other cameras which were JPG only, the module only had "Embedded" for the profile.

This is a result of the picture you are working on, not where or how it is stored or imported into Lightroom.

There may be a better LR expert out there who can explain this module.

I think BuckekyeTom has the correct info. You might go over to Lightroom forums and ask there:

Thanks, I will go to the website, I am using the same camera as I have in the past and never came across this problem.
