If you just want inexpensive ones, Walmart or Michaels Craft stores.

I know a woman who has submitted loads of pictures to galleries, and she always uses the same type of frame - and she has the framing done at a framing store.

She gets a thin (1/2") - [Now this is strange. I typed the symbol for inch and closed the parentheses, and I got a smiley face.] black metal frame. She had them matted, too, so the photo was not right out to edge of the frame.

I have used a few different types but my favorite is a thin 1/2" black aluminum frame style that AC Moore carries. They are often on sale, available in a few different sizes and don't distract from the photograph. I do recommend matting though, both for looks and to space the photo away from the glass. You can be creative with mat sizes if you want, and not use just standard precuts.

I agree. I use the same frames in my home with various matting. Some are precut and some not. I agree that this frame leaves more of the eye on the photo and not the frame.

You will never see any photo in a gallery that is not matted. A mat stops the image print from getting stuck to the glass which can be caused by moisture in the gallery, as well as give the image depth in the frame.

You should never put any image print in a frame without a mat around it.

This past Saturday, my wife and I went to an Ikea store. Made a note to go back when we are in the market for some frames. They had a nice selection at good prices. It's more than likely that you can see what they have online. I wouldn't want to mail order frames, however. Too easily damaged in transit.

I am a wood worker and make my own. I have found that the frame can add too the photo or distract from it. What I am saying it is not a one type or color frame fits all. I paint my frames a color that complements the photo. I think metal frames are tacky just no style.

Great idea with the different colored frames. But my home is very busy as far as decor with multiple colors on the walls and with the furniture. I do have a wooden frame in my dining room that is a olive green and does blend in there well. But in the other rooms it has not worked so the aluminum black frame actually looks best and makes the photos stand out. Also I feel that where and how you place the pictures in your home can make a big difference. I have had many people compliment my placement and framing/matting of my photos and believe me I am far from a professional. I just take photos because it is relaxing to me and I really enjoy it. I am sure your frames are beautiful and you put alot of time and effort into them but I think that colored frames in my home would be "tacky" looking.

fyi - Ikea frames are funky sizes - prob European. Just pay attention because they are not standard sizes.
