the not so itsy bitsy yellow garden spider and it's unique web

as i was walking around outside this mornng inspecting my "kingdom":), i noticed this yellow garden spider. since there are so many beautiful butterflies fluttering around nearby, i knocked the spider and web down. i don't want my flutterbies trapped and eaten!

We call those Banana Spiders, I think they are called Orb weavers, or zipper spiders.my son and I name them every year, such as " Fred."

On my screen it looks gigantic and brings back many childhood fears. Excellent detail, too.

I remember having one of those in my yard a while back. It's called a Argiope Spider, I looked it up because it makes a zipper web. Glad you're helping the bf in your yard stay safe.

A gorgeous spider, Merry! Sorry to hear it won't be able to earn a living in your backyard, though I admit I'd also feel a bit sad to see an innocent flutterby entangled...
