It's about time we stood up to the atheists ...
We have freedom of religion in this country ...
Not freedom from religion.

I'm not a believer, an agnostic actually, and I have a problem with forced adherence to religious ceremonies, prayers, etc. ,but, this is silly. People are allowed to practice their religion, just shouldn't be forced to do so.

Hopeful this will start a new trend and schools and parents will stand together to fight the law suits instead of giving in under pressure to a group that wants conformity to its ideology. If not then we lose more of our freedom to live as we please by self rule, and not under the dictates of others.

Yes, I agree. That is what the constitution is about. Freedom to practice or to not and not by force.

Actually, if we do it right, we have both. They're not mutually exclusive.

If you mean "freedom from religion", that is not possible. To have freedom from religion there must not be religion.

However, you do have a choice with religion by not practicing religion. That would make "freedom from religion" a personal choice which you already have under the constitution while others maintain their right to practice their religion.

So, why would one group want to take away the rights of another group? This has nothing to do with politics.

You're missing my point. Freedom from religion is the right NOT to practice religion and not be forced to participate. Do you think they'd let anybody who wouldn't take part in prayers play on that Georgia football team? I thought not and there's the problem

Prayer is not a requirement to play the game. If you do not want to pray then so be it. I see it as no different then pledging allegiance to our flag. Some do and some don't. You are not kicked out of the country if you don't but out of respect you stand there anyway, your thoughts miles away, dimly hearing what is going on around you. Maybe your mind is on the game.

I must admit that although I am in church, I do look around at times as my mind wonders as others are in prayer. God isn't going to send me to hell for that is he?

How would you folks be if you had a Wiccan coach and before each game he performed a Wiccan ritual with incense, candles and a prayer to the Goddess, which he expected his players to take part in?
Would you defend that coach or would you be up in arms?
I know the answer. The question is will you admit it.

Are you talking about a public school or a wiccan school?

If it is a public school I see no harm in a voluntary team prayer for those wish to participate. If it is a Catholic school and the priest/coach says pray, and you 1 and 10, you'd better get yur ass on yur knees and start praying, or transfer to public school!
