You need to be more specific in you question. I have no idea what the Big House is! What equipment you intend to use and under what conditions. More and accurate information will yield plenty of response from this site.

I am also thinking like Sinatraman that "big house" is a jail or penatentury. It is my understanding that people living in those facilities have already had their picture taken. LOL

Yes it is Michigan stadium. There is no football game that day. It is for a marathon. I will be shooting with a canon 30D with a canon 70-300lensand also a canon EOSRebelXSI with a 17-85 lens. Have a tri pod if allowed to use if not have a monopod. I don!t use a extender because my lens isn!t fast enought to auto focus. Thank you in advance for any info you may give. This is my first time in the Big House. Go Blue

how big a crowd? or will you be allowed to shoot on the field. Do you want to show motion and blur or do you want to stop the motion? hope ita a sunny day, shoot with the fastest shutter speed you can that means wide apeture, you may have to increase your iso, prefocus on a part of the track so that as runners go by you wont waste time trying to focus. to blur motion use a very slow shutter speed. Go lions Tigers Pistons and red wings

Since you are a Canon shooter, set the AF mode to AI Servo mode to enable autofocus to follow the subject and maintain focus. You probably want to have good depth of field so f8, f11, or f16 with that lens is very good. Shoot in Av (Aperture Priority Mode) ISO at 100 and Auto White Balance (AWB). If you shoot in Raw you will more latitude for corrections in post.

Good Luck.

the possibilties are endless depending on whether you have to shoot from an assigned seat on can go where ever you want. It also depends on what you want to accomplish photographically. Since marathons go on for hours, I would suggest shooting as much as you can as fast as you can and when you've decided what looks best to you keep shooting in that manner. Remenmber there are hundreds of runners usually in a marathon. That means lots of targets. Have fun.
