I actually had a drone guy want to work with us to try to talk brides and grooms into letting him use a drone in a church wedding....wha??? Good luck with that! A lot of the shots from drones are really stunning, but, there is definetely a time and place for such things. A church is NOT one of them, and evidently, neither is a punk rock show.

He's poking a hornets nest by posting that video - it's still illegal to use drones for commercial use at this time - even though a lot of folks are doing it and the FAA is not cracking down - if they decide to - they have irrefutable proof of his guilt.
This is current policy:
On February 14, 2012 the President signed into law the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 (PL 112-95), which established in Section 336 a special rule for model
aircraft. This provision defines model aircraft as aircraft. Commercial UAS operations are prohibited without FAA authorization. The statute requires model aircraft to be flown strictly for hobby or recreational purposes and within the operators Visual Line of Sight (VLOS).
Lot of discussion about UAS use for commercial use - and more and more requests are being approved, but even personal use in some areas is banned. be glad when it is all sorted out.

And I just heard that the National Park Service is trying to figure out how to get a drone out of one of the fantastic hot springs before it starts to decompose and stains or changes the nature of the spring. It is illegal of course, to fly a drone inside a national park.

Yes, I heard about that. I think all this negative publicity and the restrictions will hurt sales. I like the idea of the drone, but I know I wouldn't get enough use out of one.
We never heard horror stories like this about RC aircraft.
Thanks for the heads up. I think the jury is still out regarding risk vs reward in the use of drones.
Isn't the FAA responsible for airspace "above" 500 feet or so? I definitely don't want the FAA regulating what can be done inside a building!

We have an RC field here but it is way out of town not far from the city dump and the V&T Railroad station. That's probably why you don't hear horror stories about them.
I'm wondering if any of those bong pipes he was throwing came down and hit somebody in the audience.
