Superb shots Bmac.
Thanks Jim, glad you liked them. The biggest problem trying to photograph the match was the horrendous mid-day lighting of bright unshaded sunlight. Too many hotspots on those white uniforms. Helped a bit when I began to underexpose, not sure what took me so long before I did (duh!)
Nice series, Bmac. I liked the fashionable fillies in particular, lol.
A tip for the horses--if possible, get the front leg closest to you at its peak as he/she lifts it (not easy to do). It gives the best appearance to the action. Still, what you did with these conveys the action just fine.
Good work!

Thanks for commenting Randy and for the suggestion. I will keep that on mind. I enjoyed the fashionable fillies trotting across the field myself. :D

Played a lot of golf (not the black) at bethpage. Motion blur of the fillies (horses) might be interesting as well

My father used to play the black course and enjoyed doing it even though he said it was a "bear" in his words.
I did try to get blur on the legs and hooves but more so in some images I haven't posted.
Thanks for the input Boberic. 8-)
Came here through your signature...
On picture two and three, what is the black 'Halo' around the lady? Mainly visible over the grass but also in discoloration in the car seat (arm level)

Polo Trivia
James Gordon Bennett, Jr. on 6 May 1876 organized what was billed as the first polo match in the United States at Dickel's Riding Academy at 39th Street and Fifth Avenue in New York City. The historical record states that James Gordon Bennett established the Westchester Polo Club on 6 May 1876 and on 13 May 1876 the Jerome Park Racetrack in Westchester County was the site of the "first" American outdoor polo match.

Polo Trivia
Did you know polo is perhaps the only game in world in which use of the left hand (active in play, holding the mallet) is forbidden!? The reason is simple to ensure fair play. If a player was using the left hand to play, it would be extremely difficult for an opponent, riding to the right of this horse, be able to reach the ball at all.
