The Devil made me do it.
Well, first of all it's a camera and a motorcycle. The motorcycle came first. Around 1968. Secondly, when I went from a great bridge camera to my canon DSLR, My wife said be sure to get the best equipment, so as not to be upgrading all the time. I smilled and showed her an add for an 800mm L series Canon lens for the camera. List price 12,000+ dollars. Then I told her I was considering a series of about 5 different lenses.
The paramedics said she would be alright as soon as she started breathing again.
Then I started reviewing all my lens choices. I now have my 5 lenses and haven't yet passed the $4500 mark, and yes now she breaths much easier when I enter a camera store.
Since I joined UHH about a month ago, I learned so much. Of course, I had to try out what I learned first hand. Ended up buying two books, an HDR software, a flash softbox, and a wireless flash system. Knowledge can be expensive.

On my way home I was wondering how to get closer pics and not spend a ton of money and out of the blue popped up a camera store. I tried to keep the car on the road but the camera devil jumped off my shoulder took over the wheel and turned my car into their parking lot. The devil then forced me into the store and made me buy a 2X teleconverter the store wanted a $170.00 for a new one but I bought a used one for $60.00!! The devil on my shoulder was happy..........the devil at home wasn't!!
Question........How often does this happen to photo addicts and is there a twelve step cure for it?

I would....... but by the time she gets puffed and powdered I would need to use an ISO setting of 100,000.

Mine told me 20 years ago that if I bought one more piece of photography equipment she was gonna leave me ..... gosh, I still miss er.
Ah, mine wouldn't know........he has no clue of exactly WHAT I have in the camera bag and he doesn't do the bookwork. *evil grin* Sold my EOS Rebel privately and then bought my 50D.........The Spousal Unit happened to wander through the kitchen when I was boxing up the Rebel to send it off to its new home.........said "what are you doing?" Me........"sold the camera, getting a*new and improved* one". He shook his head and walked away, knowing he didn't dare open his mouth, because the week before he bought a new Harley V-Rod. Oh, and I already have my Harley; so did he, this was his 2nd one. LOL

hehehehee Sounds like you have an arrangement. :P
My wife traded her Rebel for a 50D and is somewhat disappointed. She doesn't like the size difference.
Well, I kinda figured I paid one hell of a price for that TV screen in the back. :>) Lots bigger than the one on the Rebel.

The cure is to get rid of the devil at home!
Oh no! The cure is to convert the devil at home. Or at least make sure she has an expensive hobby as well.
My "Devil at home" has the answer that she gives me. When I ask her "Is that a new pocketbook?" her response: "No, I've had it for years".
Now my ressponse is: "No I've had it for years. Got it when I had the old film camera".
She knows the truth, but what can she say.

My wife has a good eye so I bought her a pair of binoculars and made her the official lookout. She understands me, even if I don't.
