Last week I stumbled across an entrance into a gully that drains into the bayou. It's a nice place to shoot as the slopes allow me to sit high and shoot the tops of plants growing from below. Bad news is the chiggers like it too. Got there early and watched a Miner Bee wake-up and popped-off a few shots. Managed to capture a jumper and a couple true bugs as well. Not sure how you guys fill the frame with a jumper. All the ones I see are tiny and even at 2:1 they come nowhere near filling my viewfinder.

No intention of photographing one of these but it flew right past my head and landed on a leaf in front of me..

Some of use have lots of MPs to play with, to fill the frame  :)
All look really good
Excellent work as usual - you certainly have have the nack for macro photography - well taken.
I had to look up what chiggers were - I don't think I'll ever sit in grass again. Interesting photos as is your norm. Yellow is a lovely background.
nice shots,i really like the tiny bee,and the broad headed bug ant mimics are so cool
Very nice indeed, all of them.

Thank you Bill, Full frame can be a blessing and a curse. Sensor size aside I still think ya'll are seeing bigger jumpers than I am. This was shot at 2:1 with a ~60% PP crop and it doesn't take up half the frame. To fill the frame I'd have to shoot 4:1 and crop 50%...

Thank you Lieca, not sure if it's a knack, more like persistence...

Thank you Brenda. Chiggers are no fun. I wear heavy field dress and the darn things still manage to get to me every now and then. Ankles got bitten badly yesterday, itch like mad...

Thanks Tom, the bees are tiny, 5 or 6mm long. The broad headed bugs are cool, snapped a really nice shot of one on the very tip of a leaf yesterday but missed focus by a half a mm, next time.
