I recently purchased a Sigma 28-300 mm F/3.5-6.3 (Nikon mount) Aspherical D DL lens for my son's Nikon D3200. He emailed me that the lens was not compatible with his camera and that it did not have autofocus on it. The KEH receipt clearly states that it is a Nikon mount and has autofocus. Since I am a Canon user, I am not that familiar with Nikon. Is he doing something wrong or did I select the wrong lens?
Try contacting KEH and ask THEM if that lens is compatable with your son's camera.

When Nikon first introduced autofocus, it was accomplished with a motor in the camera which then the focus ring in the lens. Around 2000, Nikon started putting an autofocus motor in the lens, which it designates as "AF-S" lenses. Then it started removing the autofocus motor out of the entry-level DSLRs like the D3200.
Third-party lens manufacturers use different designations to indicate that the lens has an AF motor built in. Sigma uses "HSM" for hypersonic motor, so the current version of that lens is
Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM.
KEH should accept the lens back, they are generally very good about things like that.
Or he can just get a higher grade Nikon and have more toys in his bag.
I had to send a sigma lens back to sigma twice so they could re-program it to work with 2 different Nikon cameras with the same problem as your son is having They do it free of charge. Maybe you know of a camera store that has the sigma dock for doing this good luck Cannon does not have this problem with sigma lens as they share more of there camera software info with sigma than Nikon does
