Maybe it's my imagination, but it seems to me that a good deal of the nasty back and forth political verbal hash is ebbing in severity on Chit Chat. Could it be that most of us are just plain fed up with trying to defend the ridiculous? You know when you enter a room full of left and right and it reeks to high heaven, it begins to smell the same for everyone.

That is when it is time to check out other rooms of the forum. Has it occurred to you that this is what we like to discuss, that this is what this room is for in the first place? Put on your smoking jacket and join the crowd or slip quietly out the door for a breathe of fresh air.

Has it occurred to you that past exchanges have quickly turned into vile accusations of suggestions concerning the recipients body parts and worse. Wake up and smell something other than mundane verbal tripe. I don't smoke, so the jacket won't be necessary and reasonable discussion trumps blue talk with no points of intelligence spoken every time.

Then you must put up with that which you do not want because no one is going to stop just because you want them to. Politics, no matter how heated and vile it becomes is still the most popular topic here on the Hog. That and religion, the two things your parents told you to never discuss in public.

I'm sure that it has more to do with the fact that it is August than any other. Larry and tooth certainly show no signs of slowing down, and the rest of the forum will get re-heated as elections approach.
