Tom - you're going to be a pro by the first game ... :-) I use spot metering for sports where the exposure will be metered off the point of focus rather than the entire scene. This picture you have the white jerseys against the rich (dark) green grass that can be a challenge for the camera.

You mentioned LR in another post. I've found the 'auto' adjustments in LR5 work well, but I usually lower the exposure change by .5 after the auto changes. Then I slightly increase the clarity and saturation. You can then 'sync' all the other pictures to the same settings which probably would be useful to a series of pictures from a specific practice.

Good Afternoon CHG CANON:

Thank you for the comments, and helpful things.

I just loaded Lightroom-5 a few days ago and have tons to learn of course. I did read about the ability to Sync photo settings, pre-sets, etc. I just discovered the 'eye dropper' and its ability to help with white balance.

Once I get a full understanding all those will be of great help when processing a couple hundred photos from one of the High School Games.

I know that my older age (74) eye sight is not a plus when making detailed adjustments, so paying attention to numbering scale as you suggest, in your example .5 exposure, etc., will in time help me I am sure. It seem's my Nikon D-600 puts out higher exposed photo than what I seem to see on the LCD. Right now I have one card set on Raw and the other to capture jpg.

I also noticed in post with Lightroom, going to Adobe Landscape or Vivid seems to pop a Photo just a tad more.

I use Macbook Pro 15 inch Retina Screen and an iMac 27 inch computer's. I have not invested in a Monitor Calibration, just use the onboard Apple System.

If things work out, I will be going to another practice tomorrow afternoon around 3pm.

I will take your advice on the next group of photos.

Do you know if I can share photo with you thru the PM here on UHH....If so I may bug you with one or two prior to sending to our High School Facebook page for the kids and their families or posting on UHH to continue embarrass myself...

Thanks very much for your time to look and provide the constructive and informative feedback.

Pray your day has gone very well.

tom
