The Quality of Nikon's Replacement D610

Hi fellow Hoggers! Everyone here that knows me understands how consumed I've been with the D600 sensor spots ordeal. I had my D600 back to Nikon for the second time in March(2014) for the second shutter mechanism replacement. It has been fantastic ever since. Although I haven't been able to do a lot of shooting since June due to shoulder surgery and recovery and as yet do NOT have the number of "clicks" on it to generate spots.

Here is my concern. I see where a law firm has taken up the torch and they will get your D600 replaced as part of a class action suit. Plus Nikon seems to be replacing a lot of them too.

My main concern is: Since Nikon is Replacing all these D600s with D610s did the build quality of the 610's other camera components get cheapened up to afford Nikon the "wiggle room" they needed to replace thousands of D600 cameras?

Has any Current D610 owners who had an upgrade from the D600 notice any cost-cutting measures in the manufacture of the D610?

Nikon isn't GM, & any degradation in build quality & the amazing high quality offerings from other DSLR brands would likely result in consumers switching brands. Nikon isn't gonna cut corners...

Don, Nikon replaced my D600 with a 610. Haven't had if for very long but I haven't seen any difference. Actually, so far as I can tell it could be my 600 with the name changed. ;)

I would be interested in more information on the class action suit. Sent my D600 back last week as a precautionary step. I asked about a 610 replacement to avoid multiple repairs and offered to pay an additional fee for the replacement. No go. Does anyone have a good idea of what it takes to get a 610 replacement?

I believe you would have had to send it back at least twice and are still getting spots. Many 600s have been replaced with 610s.

I had to do the song and dance 3 times and on the 4th in a years time I asked to speak to a supervisor and went over the records with her over the phone and only then did I get the replacement. To the original question I can see no difference in the build of the camera. Looks just like the 600 with a new number on it. check for spots and if you have them contact Nikon and do the song and dance, keep all of the photos and paper work when dealing with them. They will pay all the shipping all your are out is some time with your camera. good luck

If you are encountering spots three times back to Nikon seems to be the threshold. I believe it is too late to become a part of any of the class action suits as they have (all?) settled. ;)
