I'm no expert but you may find a converter cord, not to sure,
if you are using a converter box for cable or satalite you might find a place to plug it into on it.
By no means an expert. My sound cable plugs into back of DVR aka Joey

I often check Amazon to find independent comments about products that I am thinking of purchasing ,and in reading the comments there is sometimes useful additional information. I've been thinking of getting the Sony Sound bar but have not made up my mind. At any rate, here is a link to the many Amazon customer comments about the Sound Bar. Perhaps you will get the information you are seeking, as other customers probably had to deal with your same problem. I hope it helps:

Sony HTCT260H Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer.
It had 563 reviews.

There is not enough information here to answer your question.
1. What type of cord did your sound bar come with? HDMI...optical....coaxial?
2. What audio out connections are available on the back of the TV.
3. What is the TV model?
4. What is the sound bar model?

The cord is a digital cord.very tinyplug.
There is no corresponding socket, hence the query but there are the usual hdmi, scart and red and white pliugs.
The TV is a Sharp LC-40sh340k
The dound bar is a Sony.No model number
Thanks

Does the tiny plug have a little cover on it that pulls off? If so you will see something that looks like a tiny bulb. That would be a digital optical cable. More after you answer this. :)

No there seems to be no cover

That#s it
OK. That is a digital optical cable. There is an outlet on the back of your TV. See Number 6 on the diagram below. I believe on your TV that output is digital coaxial, so you cannot plug an optical cable to it. So that leads to a another question. Are there any other audio in jacks on the back of your sound bar, maybe one that looks like the coaxial out jack on your TV? If so you can buy a coaxial cable and use that instead of the cable that came with the sound bar. If there are no other connections on the sound bar you will need a coaxial out to optical in converter plus a coaxial cable. They are available here in the US from B&H for about $35 US.
What would really help here is if you took a photo of the outlets on the TV and the outlets on the sound bar and posted it here so that I can be certain what you need.
I have the same setup, my TV has no optical socket. I bought a video/audio cable with three coloured plugs at each end (red, white and yellow). I used two of them to connect the TV to the soundbar. Works perfectly. Sound is 100% improved. You can probably get one with just two plugs, but my local Sainsbury's didn't have one!

The tv has lousy sound and there is nothing that can be done. The sound coming into the tv via a cable box can be used to drive a sound bar.
Interesting, but I don't have a solution. Try the source, where you got the sound bar?
For my sound bar I needed this adapter and used the RCA (red and white) connectors. You should be able to find this at Office Depot, Staples, or Best Buy.
