I spent three days exploring and photographing the battlefield at Gettysburg. Those of you who have been to the battlefield know that there are dozens of monuments dedicated to the heroism of the combatants on the actual battlefield. In an attempt to make the photos appear more like they would have in 1863, I used PS to remove the monuments and the roads of the battlefield in many cases. No disrespect was intended by removing the monuments from the photos. I really like the photo of Devil's Den with the mist of early morning in the background. There is a road that winds its way through this impressive natural formation. I removed it, and it makes the photo look much better. I hope you enjoy these and comments are, of course, always welcome.

Very stunning, powerful images, Erich. I love how you processed and presented these, along with the interesting compositions.

You done great with black and white showing about the past.

Thank you, Linda. When I was looking at them, I knew that I wanted them to be balck and White. I also like the attempt to make the land not look like a tourist attraction. It was a challenge. I have some others; but they are not processed yet.

Thank you. I agree that the B&W is the way to go in these shots. Thank you for your input.

Thank you for your input.
Great Photos, You spent lots of time with PS making them look like the 1860's. I had the same problem at Antietam National Battlefield with Power Lines, Jet trails, and Satellite Dishes. Thanks for posting.

You are welcome. Last year I was at Antietam (actually took a quick run from Gettysburg to Antietam this year also). I was a bit disappointed with the results, so I decided to go a different direction with these.
Particularly like the composition of the photograph with the field gun - well taken and processed.
Excellent set and PP Erich.
