This guy comes around several times a week. My wife puts out bread or crackers.
Seems to enjoy dinning on both.
That is an ugly critter.
Just think, this site could have been called the Ugly Possum....

they are cute but please tell your wife to be careful as they are the number one carriers of rabies. she needs to wear gloves when handling anything he eats off of. People do not realize you only have to get its saliva on a mucous membrane=(paper cut, hang nail opening etc) to contact rabies.

I don't know. Nobody asked me what to call it when they were setting it up. I have never seen anything posted as to how it got the name. Lots of speculation.
I live in a winter Texan resort year around. Last year a possum got under one of the manufactured houses and chewed his way up through the floor and spent the summer inside the house. When the owners came back they found a bigger mess than any raccoon could've made. They had to completely gut the house except for the support walls and redid the whole thing.
Be very careful with these critters, they are vicious. Here we trap them, kill them and feed them to the turtles and 'gators. Be very cautious.
Anybody got the recipe for grannies 'possum stew?

Good shots, Pat! UGLY subject! Looks like a rat.
Bob
We caught one that was just over 4 feet long, tail and all.
North Americas only marsupial...No animals are ugly...each one has a purpose for living. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder ! Loss of habitat forces wild animals to seek shelter where humans have encroached. They do what comes naturally !
