Hello all! Been a long time since I was on here but I need some help from you all! Please take a look at the attached photo. Can someone tell me from their experience, what the line is right above the young gentleman's head. Looks like sun flare but it is also apparent when shooting in dimly lit situations. Hope it is not a damaged sensor! Also, the line showed up using two different lenses. Thanks!
You have a hair or a small thread stuck up against the bottom of your sensor. ,Time for a proper cleaning.

A hair on the sensor possibly?

Actually, take a shot of a light sky or object, a wall is good.... and see how far the "hair" actually extends across the sensor.
a light blue wall or sky is great for showing off sensor dust/spots!
Really? You post a photo with an ugly anomaly asking for advise/assistance on the "line", and you go thru the effort to watermark it predominantly to keep someone/anyone from, from what stealing it?
Either you are one hell of an egotistical fool, thinking even your bad photos are so great someone would want to claim it as their own, or your opinion of us on this site is extremely low that we would want to steal a BAD photo.
I can not even find your offending line for your obtrusive and offending watermark. GOOD LUCK Sir.
Try to be a more helpful, if you have nothing good to say why say anything at all.

My bother retired from the Air Force and is a hell of a lot more respectul than you. No wonder why this country's Government is failing us. You are an ass Sir. UXOEOD that is.
Thanks for the help. I will go about cleaning the sensor to see it if helps.

Don't do anything dramatic! This is not cause to pay money nor to learn how to do a wet clean.
Get one of those "rocket" blowers, and in two squirts of air that hair will blow away. It appears to be large enough you will easily be able to see it. Make sure it gets blown completely out of the camera.

I am not sure if I can take all the credit for the nations problems, but you and letmedance are correct. I am an ass, and I was out of line.
For a helpful comment, get rid of the stinking watermark, it is both obtrusive and insulting. There are thousands of wonderful photos on this website, and some with unobtrusively watermarked, most are unmarked. Personal observation, usually the less watermark, the better the photographer.
On another side, my brother's brother also retired from the Air Force, but I won't compare him to you.
Yes. I was out of line too. The water mark is not mine but my wife's. I agree it is obtrusive. Note well taken. Thank you the commitment you made to serve our Nation. Now that that is out of the way, I will give it a go on cleaning the sensor. I have cleaned my 5DII before but that was for specks of dust and lint. This line looks like a different monster all together. The reason for this post.

You are forgiven, I also thought ill of the watermark but held back on any comment. If anything a small unobtrusive mark in the border or a corner.

As the offending line is so wide/out of focus, I would look on the aft end of your lens, or between the lens end and sensor. I suspect if it was ON the sensor it would have crisper defined edges. If it moves on images, it may be stuck on the edge of a moving surface, and only in place when the mirror is up, and the sensor is exposed. Is the line consistently in the same location on different images?
Good luck. I too suspect it is a minor but annoying problem, but it could be a longer than desired investigation.

I just laughed at the watermark, and thought about telling you to clean it off your sensor.
