Aw, the fires really hit me hard! I was in Yosemite during the winter of 2013, and it's such a pretty place. This is one reason I tell people, "don't wait - go as soon as you can," when they mention wanting to visit one of the national parks.
The good thing (and I observed this at Yellowstone just weeks ago) is that fire isn't always a bad thing. The Lodgepole Pine needs fire to spread its seeds, so fire actually helps keep the ecology dynamic.
Still, looking over a charred and barren landscape that was once a thing of beauty is heart-rending.

One thing that immediately jumped out at me in your first photo is that Bridalveil Falls is almost non-existent. This is normal for the warmer times, as many of the falls dry up during summer months.
While winter offers less color, the falls can be spectacular. Seeing the "snow cone" at the base of the upper Yosemite Falls can be awesome, when, from a distance, one understands that resulting ice is sometimes upwards of 300 feet deep!

In '99 (I think) when we were driving into Yosemite and I spotted smoke. Asked the ranger that was at the entrance about and she said lightning had struck and started the fire. She assured me it would be fine so we went in. Got to watch a helicopter scoop up water from a stream. Well when we got ready to leave we found that we couldn't leave the same way we had come in. It took us 2 hours longer to get out. The part that really scarred me was that we had to drive on a road that had fire on both sides right next to the road. Those are great pictures.
