I'm a Nikon user, but my dad gave me all of his old olympus film cameras/lenses.

I was thinking of buying an olympus/fuji mirrorless. Will an OM-1 - 4/3rds moutn converter work for Fuji and Olympus the same? I believe they're both 4/3's mounts.

Thanks!

Fuji uses their own X-mount now, used to be the M-mount. Olympus used to use the 4/3's mount, but all their newest cameras use the M4/3's mount (same as Panasonic), its different.
One of the greatest things about Nikon, no mount questions.

Agreed! Anyway to mount these olympus lenses on a J1 or something haha?

I really want a mirrorless but like the Fuji/Olympus look/feel so much better than the J series.

But you're saying i could buy a Panasonic or Olympus and a 4/3rds adapter would fit both?

No, the 4/3's is a bigger mount. The adapter to MICRO 4/3's would allow mounting on either Panasonic or Olympus.

I basically learned on the OM cameras, they were great! I'm not really sure what you would gain by using them instead of your Nikon gear? Maybe buy a few rolls of Fuji Velvia, Kodak TMax, or Ilford FP4 and enjoy the Olympus gear as it was meant to be used. :-)

Nothing, just fun to experiment! I could get one of those focal length reducer converters too though and use the nikon lenses on the mirrorless at a faster aperture!

Then clearly the OM-D E-M1 is calling out to you. :-)

I bought a E-M5 and use some of my older OM system lenses with the E-M5 using the micro 4/3rds adapter. But there are limits on the older film lens' abilities to shoot digital. The film lenses were designed with the optics for full frame. Some optical defects that are acceptable at the full frame level become unacceptable or limiting at 4/3rds frame level. The sensor is cropping from the full frame coverage. I have used my 90mm f2 macro lens (180mm f2 in 35 equivalent) with very sharp photographs from f2.8 to f11 because it was an extremely sharp lens as a 35mm lens. But my 75/150 lens is only useful between 100mm and 150mm at f5.6. Olympus puts out a listing of the OM lenses and their compatible with 4/3rds. It would be useful to compare the list to what you have and see how useful each lens is to you before spending money for an adaptor.

That's what she said.
