I just bought the WU-1a adapter, I plugged it into my D7100, I've installed the app on my I-phone, I turn the camera on and nothing happens, the adapter doesn't light up, does anyone have experience with this?

The light on the adapter should light up when you turn the camera on, if not I'd try turning the camera off, unplugging the adapter, plugging it back in and turning the camera back on. If you don't get a light, you may have a defective unit.

Thanks, I will have to speak with the camera shop that I got it from, I didn't think it was very complicated to use.

How do you like the adapter? Do you use it as a shutter release?

I have the same problem. I'm using it on my Coolpix A. I have to keep turning the camera off and on in order to get the WiFi connection. When it finally connects the connection is a bit slow. With all that said, when it is working it is great for street photography. Using my iPhone I have the camera hanging around my neck and use the phone to snap shots of subjects without anyone being intimidated. Good luck.

I love my adapter. The only requirement is that it is for an Android phone, or at least that is what it says in my D3200 manual

I like it, it works just fine as a remote shutter release on my DF, admittedly, I don't use it all that much but I can see where it would come in handy.

Hi Kevin

I just got a couple of weeks for my D7100. Once you have the app on your smart device. Then you have to turn the camera on and push the wsp button on the adapter (right below the light on it. Hope this helps mine works well.

I returned mine the day after I bought it. It's not ready for prime time. Mine always dropped connection. With RAW images, it takes a long time to download wirelessly.

Perhaps the D7100 menu has an ON/OFF control for the adapter? - Just a thought - Jimmy.

I just spoke with Nikon and the adapter should come on as soon as the camera powers on, it appears the adapter is defective, I'll let everyone know if that is the problem when I get this sorted out. Thank you to everyone that has given some thought to this.

Problem solved: On the D7100 you have to go into "Menu", then to the "setup menu" scroll to "Wireless mobile adapter" press the "Ok" button & turn the function on. The wireless adapter will come on and is active. I only used once so far & it seems to work nicely.
