Second one looks pretty good. DOF looks pretty shallow for 900mm even at f5.6. How far away were you?

As naturepics43 observed, that is mighty shallow DOF for 900 mm!
Also that looks like a moth to me !

At a focal length of 900mm wouldn't one expect a narrow depth of field? I am guessing I was about 30 feet or more away. In post processing I used a center focus to further blur elements outside of the subject. 8-)

It was shot with the SX50 Linda. Sometimes I attempt a shot like this with the extreme telephoto rather than getting close up with the lens. Of course, as you know, at that focal length it's a challenge to get good focus when hand holding. :-)

Well, as I stated I don't think at 900mm one would expect much depth of field.
I believe it is a skipper butterfly TucsonCoyote....but I have been wrong before. Thanks for the feedback. 8-)

Hey, Bmac. Can I get in on the bet?
What's the odds & is there a limit how much we can bet?

I'm going to be a big winner. I see a new D810 in my future!

The guide is a butterfly at rest folds its wings and a moth at rest spreads its wings.
