I took this photo using my Canon 40D + Tamron 600mm Lens... the Moon was approximately 24 degrees above the horizon which was pretty low for the Moon, and looking through a lot of atmosphere and pollution.... in my opinion, seeing/photographing conditions were about a 3 or 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best seeing conditions.
EXIF: Canon 40D + Tamron 150-600mm at 600mm; ISO 1250, 1/180th sec at f/5.6 (lens wide open); Tripod with Beike-45 Gimbal Head. Single photo with sharpening.
Live View Focusing with 10x magnification.
Moon: Phase 0.4 or 40% illuminated; 24 degrees above Horizon; 230.4 degrees east of north.
Date, Time and location: August 2, 2014 at 9:41 PM Cincinnati, Ohio, USA (Lat 39 degrees 7 minutes 7.0314 seconds; Long -84 degrees 41 minutes 37.197 seconds.
Average to below average seeing conditions relative to viewing location

I didn't have a photo of my Canon 40D setup so I used a photo of my Canon 60D...
P.S. Forgot to mention that Moon photo was closely cropped...

Nice images. The shot of the moon; with the data in the upper corner; would you mind telling us what program you used?
Thanks Stargazer... I appreciate your comments...
I used a "Free" program called "Stellarium" which can be downloaded from the internet... it is a really nice program that is full of great information. It actually updates itself from one second to the next and positions the sky view for your particular location. You need to set the date, time, and your location to accurize the program. You can fast forward or reverse the time or date to show current, future, or past astronomical events.
You can also use the "Telescope Portion" of the program where you can program your telescope and eyepiece information into it and then see a relative view of what you would see by using different combinations of eyepieces. You can use it for stars, star groups, planets, and other astronomical objects. There are many adjustments to customize the program to your liking. Best of all it is "Free"! If you are like me you will like "Free"! Try it... you'll like it!
