I think it does work, and I think the symmetry is very good here. Some photos just need to have a perfectly centered look. This, I believe, is one of them. Well done.

I think a smaller colophon-signature-copyright notice would help this and a great number of other photos submitted.

I like them both for different reasons, Richard. It's nice to have the young lady in the picture...gives perspective, but if I were going to hang it on my wall, I'd use #2.
