Hi--

Due to health issues, I'm looking for a camera that I can actually use -- one with, say, a 1" sensor, a variable length lens, a decent minimum aperture, and (here's the deal breaker, I'm afraid) a viewfinder that permits clear focusing and visualizing of depth of field in manual (either an optical viewfinder or a good lcd that swivels to avoid glare.)

Any ideas?

Sony Rx 10.

Thanks!

I'll check them out on B&H.

By the way, I like your motto. (Unfortunately, I have to stick with Snapple, myself. Epilepsy has that morning after disadvantage, even for one tiny glass. Talk about a bummer.)

I'm using a Panasonic GX7 with Panasonic 14-140 lens that seems to fill you requirements. (The "equivalant" numbers for the lens are 28-280).

There are a lot of advanced point & shoot cameras that would fit your needs. Do you have a budget?

Yes, but right now it's the sort of budget I will adjust with the variable of time. I'd be interested to know about any good point and shoot options. I've been wondering also about digital rebels.

Fuji X-E1 or X-E2.
I took my X-E1 to Europe in lieu of a DSLR and have no regrets.
APS-C sensor in a small package with great image quality.
The Panasonic GX7 is a great recommendation as well.

The Sony RX-100 III is a great camera and has a large sensor and shoots in all modes. It will also fit in a shirt pocket and shoots RAW if you wish. Good luck.

Digital Rebels? You mean the Canon Rebel DSLR's? Canon makes the Rebel SL1, that's the smallest and lightest DSLR ever made. Don't know the price off the top of my head. Another option would be used or refurbished advanced point & shoot cameras, I bought a Nikon P7100, takes great detailed photo's and it's convenient to carry around. I use it as much as my DSLR. Other options would be Sony RX series and Canon G series among others. These cameras have larger than normal sensors.

Take a good look at the Nikon P7800. It has a decent viewfinder with most of the important information clearly displayed, a large, clear, swiveling and rotating screen, a 7x zoom glass lens with a f2.0 aperture, full manual to full auto capabilities, is pretty small considering the features, and produces good looking photos. And it's only about $500.

What about a bridge camera, the Panasonic FZ200, or the Canon SX-50?
