Blow it again Sam! Trumpet player at Toronto street fair

I love music shots. This trumpet player projects excitement. I like him.
And, the background is inevitably busy and I find it a tad distracting. But it also adds to the excitement and I can't imagine how it might gave been anything else given the circumstances of this street shot.
Overall, it is a little chaotic for my tastes but the image projects a lot of energy.
I really like this shot, you captured the trumpet players enthusiasm and emotion beautifully. The people in the back ground show a parade atmosphere and my be someone interesting there might of helped but not at the cost of losing the main subjects emotion and energy. I do agree the image is cropped a little to tight and may be some more scape to the right showing what lays a head for the trumpet player. Great job. Greg

I like the energy of this image. The composition is just right and you have isolated the subject from the background with the depth of field while retaining the context of a public parade. What I do not like is the application of some filter or other to make part of it look like a painting. At first I though it was out of focus, then I thought something had gone wrong with resizing. I think that was a mistake.
Thanks for your comments..
Potentially a good image, I like the energy of the trumpet player but the blonde with the shades needs to have her presence reduced together with a slight desaturation of some of the brighter colours in the background. For me, the big issue is the use of the painted effect, there is absolutely no need for it, it adds nothing, in fact it subtracts.

I like the selective focus on the trumpeter. The problem with that, however, is that the background becomes somewhat of a diversion since it is out of focus. Normally, I like to look at faces in the crowd, but in this case, it's not pleasing because the individuals are not in focus. The other problem that the background poses in the photo is that you have two halves of two women on either side of the photo. I realize that the best crop for the trumpeter requires those two half women, but they do subtract from the overall photo. It's one of those situations where things almost came together, but didn't quite.
CChow ... I love this image! You've caught the emotion and energy of this musician. You've focused perfectly, making this busy background softer so that it does not distract from your subject. If I had a nit pick it would be that I would like to see a little more room in front of your subject.
Thanks for your comments.. Street photography is hard.. have to deal with the crowd and moving subject while focusing on the subject and composition.
Thanks for your comment. will keep your advice in mind.. cheers
