What a day!

With our group, Suffolk County LI Photographers, we went out to the Elizabeth A. Morton Wildlife Preserve yesterday. It was a beautiful day for this part of the country in January..mild temperature and a blue sky. I wasn't expecting more than tramping through the woods at this time of year but I was in for a surprise. One of the group asked if I had brought any sunflowers seeds (which I hadn't) so they gave me a pocketful. "Hold out your hand" I was told. I couldn't believe it, one after the other and sometimes two at a time, little chickidees flew into my palm.

That is really cool, and very nice pics. Just an FYI, the first 2 pics are chickadees, but the first one in hand is a Nuthatch, and the second one is a Titmouse. I have heard of chickadees eating out of hand before, but never the others. Very neat.

Thank you for the ID's. I knew I had different species but hadn't identified them yet.
