Yes, you're right. I just did a download test and it is in the 80MB/s range, faster than USB3.

I run Lightroom off a thunderbolt connected drive - thats a 10 Gb/s connection....even with slow drives I am getting almost 200 MB/s read throughput and 170 MB/s write speed.

I want to add a docking port to throw USB 3 capability on there as well....

BTW - USB 3.0 is 640 MB/s.....so your 80 MB/s is faster than USB 2.0

I was thinking of the speeds I get with my USB 3.0 drive with a different laptop, but that's also sometimes going from USB 3.0 to USB 3.0 on the same hub. Basically, I have only done useless tests so far. :oops:

80-100 MB/s is no slow poke thats for sure!
