This thread probably came up on the top of the list when a user mistakenly pressed the <Last> button in the Main Section, rather than <Next>. The UHH community members who feel they need to pontification on every single thread are more prone to making such a navigation error. You can recognize this error in their reluctance to acknowledge the futility of responding to a 12 year old zombie thread they've just awoken.

So there are exceptions to my broad statement. I don't have market data but I would be surprised if those cameras accounted for 1% of the number of cameras out there that fit my statement.

A monochrome camera is a specialty camera. It has its uses, but the general use cameras are in color.

I'm sure they account for an extremely small fraction of 1%, but I would have been remiss by not at least mentioning these specialty cameras, without a Bayer filter, intended for B&W additionados. I would buy the Leica M11 Monochrom and an appropriate Leica MF prime lens in a heartbeat If I could afford such an exorbitant expenditure. Being an amateur photographer, and retired as well, that will never happen.

I actually saw that video and several others on the M11 Monochrom just after it was released. I would love to have one, but at $9200 USD for the body and another $5,000 to $9,000 for a Leica 35mm or 50mm MF prime, it's a bit out of my price range. But, I can dream.

I found it interesting that the very first PetaPixel video in May 2023 that Chris and Jordan did since the ending of DPReview TV was on the Monochrome Leica M11. I guess even old UHH topics never die, but get refreshed and rehashed, LOL

Cheers and best to you all, keep shooting and having fun.

ROTFLMFAO .... in agreement.

Acoarst hes not the only Hawgster that typically weaves their resume into their overly verbose posts !

My own resume is equally solid but Ive *nevvvvvuh* posted anything about it. I post solutions to problems on a take it or leave it basis. "Take it" you win. Buy into the usual Hawgster BS you lose. Not my mission to rescue the losers.

Acoarst I also post things other than solutions to problems. Some of that irritates *certain* Hawgsters .....but fuggem if they cant take a joke.

I was intrigued with the Monochrom way back when but it was so exotic it was a waste of time lusting...I thought the fact that just Luminosity was captured was intriguing. I have a DP2Merrill with Foveon sensor and was wondering how BW processing could be accomplished perhaps in a manner diff. from the Bayer process and then doing conversion as all other digital sensors do. Maybe ways to adjust the light capturing frequencies of the diff.layers to affect contrast etc... Just thinking out of the box. Yes,I am going to extensively research this, but I really respect your opinions and wondered what thoughts you had off the top of your head... I purchased this as a classic collectable but I wish to dive into it now...
