They have a very high number of transactions, and a 99.9% rating. If buying, just ask if the item has a USA warranty.

$307 OVER USA list price and NO USA warranty. But no waiting list either.
I would seriously look at the Sigma 150-500mm OS lens, yes its 100mm shorter, but highly regarded, proven lens. Plus its readily available, comes WITH a nice padded case (Tamrons don't) and its only $739 brand new this week!

I normally would not recommend overseas sellers but this one is reliable. I had a bad experience with another guy from China and it took me several nasty email to get a return on a lens that was advertised incorrectly and did not work on my D7000. Scary. Agreed MT it is overpriced BUT some have been waitng over 7 months and want the lens. Their choice just passing on info. Like I said..I have mine..and prefer it over Sigma 150-500 which underimpressed me. I also agreed not to buy if not USA warranty.

Why buying on E-bay, Adorama and B&H sell it for $1069.

I am consider buying it too, after the auto focus stops working on my Sigm 50-500mm, after 5 years of moderate use. I just need a new lens, I don't trust Sigma any more, I don't know any thing about Tamron, and how long it will last? I will turn back to Nikon, the 80-400mm. It's a little more expensive, but it's quality matter!

I have not used the Tamron lens yet, but I have been assured that mine will be in my hands by the end of next week. Everything I have read about this lens is positive, and I am anxious to take it to a baseball game and try it out. Went in this direction due to the comparable Canon lens being 5 to 6 times more expensive. Mine will come with the U.S. warranty, and I am only paying list price, which more than fair for this lens. I love my local camera shop! Good service, a great advice.

Ken Rockwell will also recommend that you only shoot in jpg because raw is just to much and you can recover just as much information from a jpg file as you can from a raw.
Basically Ken Rockwell is an idiot.
He also says that he supports his family from his web site via the links he post where he gets a commission from the sales.
I call bullshite on that one too.

I would be sure to get a copy of the Tamron SP 150-600mm VC with a U.S. warranty. Tamron warranties this lens for 6 years, in the U.S. I don't know how long the warranty is in other countries. I use my copy on a 7D, 50D, and 6D. Great photos everytime.

My new tamron 150-600 for nikon (d7100) is on its way for warranty work as of today. It is failing to reliably auto-focus if the distance from first object to next object is too great. I am happy to have that USA warrenty....

Why in the world would you advice people to only ever shoot in jpg? Why would you tell them you never need a high megapixel count camera? He gives some of the worst advice ever and then wants to come off like he knows more then the manufactures themselves.

I think if you have been an aficionado of Rockwell you would know he is recommending this as an option for the amatuer who should be spending more time taking pictures then spending hours post processing in raw on a computer. People reading his website are not Pro's..they are the average guy or gal trying to get some information about everyday problems as related to their cameras and lenses.Personally I see no point in shooting in raw in many instances such as sporting events, family gatherings, or any situation where the buffer fills up quickly from rapid fire shooting. That is just plain dumb! I think people have gotten too hung up on the raw vs jpeg issue. Question... how many folks actually print all these humungous files they have in their computers. I would guess less then 10 percent of all files get printed so his advice about high megapixel cameras is probably on the money unless you are a professional doing huge prints. Who needs 36 megapixels..Art Wolfe thats who..certainly not 99% of the public!
