My cameras have always been insure under a personal rider policy, but now that I have acquired expensive equipment (4900 printer and color edge monitor) I called my agent about a business policy. She told me my cameras could no longer be under the personal rider policy and a business policy would include liability and medical, neither of which I need as I free lance out of home. Does anyone have any leads on insuring equipment?

My apartment insurance is with Travelers Insurance Company. It covers all contents at full replacement value for up to $30,000. That includes full coverage while on vacation or carried in my car. Cost - $115 a year.

Havng sold insurance at one time, and having recently purchased a rider policy for my camera & equipment, you might want to check the limits on items covered. Cash might only be for $500-1000; jewelry, guns, computers all have replacement cost limits, and those limits may be less than their actual worth. My camera equip even with a rider, has a $5000 limit. Each ins co has its own set limits and you need to be aware of them.

Thank you for the feedback. I am curious as to whether the Traveler's Policy is standard apartment insurance or a special photography policy. I already have home owner insurance, but I don't think it would replace my equipment at full value and it certainly costs more than $115 a year. Can you tell me more about your policy? Thank you.

I worry most about getting mugged. Out walking around taking pictures and some thief decides he/she wants my camera.
Is such a situation covered with apartment insurance? Or would it be best to get camera insurance only?
Is there such a thing as Amature insurance?

TO ALL ASKING ABOUT INSURANCE: PICK UP YOUR PHONE, CALL YOUR AGENT, YOUR QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED.
MY POLICY IS JUST A SIMPLE RIDER. I SENT A LIST OF MY EQUIPMENT ALONG WITH RECEIPTS (for verification). COUPLE DAYS LATER GOT A QUOTE AND A $LIMIT. IT WAS FOR PERSONAL, NOT BIZ, USAGE; COVERS THEFT, FROM CAR OR HOME, ACCIDENTAL BREAKAGE, FIRE, WATER, STORM, ETC AND COMES WITH REPL COST. BIZ USAGE CAN COVER MUCH LARGER AMTS (VIRTUALLY LIMITLESS) FOR MUCH HIGHER PRICES, OF COURSE. BUT IT WILL NOT BE UNDER YOUR HOMEOWNERS POLICY (PERSONAL USE)

Beacher, I know that some times it is frustrating to see people ask the question and continue to ask the same thing over and over again in different forms or they just want to put their 2 cents about whatever it is that is being talked about, but please as a simple request for not all of us have your all knowledge or experience with insurance, please don't type all in caps. It feels like you are yelling at us because we can't understand you and you can only raise your voice to make your point or that you are talking "down" to us.

To everybody on this forum, please follow internet/chat/messaging/forum etiquette. It will help us be better towards one another and prevent us thinking incorrectly about a person's personality just because we didn't understand or took the time to stop, think, and "listen" before we acted.

and where is someone to go to learn internet/website/forum etiiquette? not being snotty i do want to know. it is like these invisible rules people talk about but noybody has written down. Look i am big on being polite but your chances of getting people in this day and age to be responsible are slim to none and slim left town. People are so rude to each other in person, thoughtless and inconsiderate vicious and mean, this state has finally invaded the last bastion of good manners and respect on the planet the deep south. Good luck but don't get your hopes up

sinatraman, you can look at here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette

There are others sites that contain similar etiquette "rules". All I would like is to be polite to each other. We all have our opinions and we should respect each others opinion, not trying to force them on to others.

We have stepped out of the main topic here, which is insurance coverage questions. Etiquette and proper behavior should be on another Topic. :). I apologize if I offended anybody but I am a true practitioner of "caps mean you are screaming" therefore I don't type in caps.

Thanks for the reference. I too think it would be a much better world if we were all more polite to each other. I support anyone who is defending good manners and civility.

The reason for the caps was to draw attention to the msg. It was not about yelling. It had nothing to do with everyone continually asking same/similar questions as you implied. It did draw attention apparently. That is the trouble with txting/msging/e-mail etc. you are limited in how you respond. You are limited in how long your response can be. Maximum impact with minimum effort. caps or no caps, msg is the same. Sorry if you felt offended. No great knowledge either. 16-17 yrs ago, less than a year.
